Shopping and Restaurants
The village shop (open mornings only) is a mile and
a half (2km) away. There are shops in Inveraray and there is a
wider choice of shops at Lochgilphead.
In Inveraray there are filling stations, grocery stores,
banks, a post office, a whisky shop, a shoe shop and a woollen
goods shop.
Lochgilphead has filling stations, banks, a post office,
a supermarket, delicatessens, hardware stores and many other shops.
The Smiddy is a good place for coffee or lunch.
Within five miles from here there is a hotel at Lochgair
serving good bar meals, and a pub at Furnace also offering good
food. Between Minard and Furnace there is a café and garden
shop. There are many restaurants in the wider area.
Oban (to the north) and Helensburgh (towards Glasgow)
are the nearest large towns, both about fifty-five miles away.
A good centre for shopping, Oban has a distillery, and ferries
leave for many of the islands from the harbour.
